THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF
THE OBP MISSION.

I started this venture in 2013 because I was consumed by the idea that people could achieve more together than they could alone. The OBP’s multi-pronged approach of community empowerment, resource sharing and skill building, has provided an incredibly rich and meaningful experience for those involved. We have seen consistent growth, connections made, opportunities seized, ideas explored, courage fostered, and curiosity embraced. Today the OBP embraces the attitude of not asking others for permission to throw ourselves into this mission. Now, we welcome you to do the same. The public’s involvement is the underpinning upon which the OBP is built. It provides us with the focus, drive and ability to continue providing ongoing resources, opportunities and support to our community. This community is both the inspiration and agents of our work.

Below we’ve laid out some options to help you get involved. This list however, is certainly not exhaustive. If you have a suggestion that is not listed below, feel free to reach out, and we can sit down to chat about your ideas. After all, at OBP this is what we do… Make ideas real.

Welcome to the Bench, and thanks.

FUNDING A SCHOLARSHIP SEAT FOR ANOTHER IS AN INCREDIBLY POWERFUL GESTURE.

Doug Corrigan, Member of the Open Bench Project

In early 2015 Doug Corrigan approached the Open Bench Project with a simple idea.
Would it be possible to pay for a membership, but rather than use it, make it available for others to use?
Today, the Doug Corrigan scholarship seat has been enjoyed by many in our community from high schoolers and college students exploring ideas to asylum seekers integrating with our community. When Doug swings by the shop from time to time to catch up with those using his seat, it is wonderful to see. They learn from each other, share ideas, and true friendships are born. It is a great opportunity for all those involved. If you are interested in sponsoring a seat of your own, please let us know. We’d be happy to sit and chat about the deep and meaningful opportunities available though this program.

And when you see Doug, thank him, for leading the way…

Want to sponsor a scholarship seat like Doug?

It is simple and easy to do. Just pick the type of membership you’d like to sponsor and contact us at info@obportland.org to let us know how you’d like us to administer it. We’ll take care of the rest.

By doing my small part, I help make sure OBP is there when I and everyone else who uses the space, needs it.

SPONSOR OR DONATE EQUIPMENT TODAY!.

Doug Corrigan, Member of the Open Bench Project

“I donated my heavy duty table saw, my bandsaw, and my Nova lathe to the Open Bench Project because I felt badly about how little use they were getting in my basement and how poorly I was taking care of them, in contrast to the extensive use they could get at OBP and the good care they would receive.

I could not be happier about the choice I made.

Peter Monro

Got some equipment that's just sitting there?

We all love our tools. Sometimes when we get them though, they hardly ever see any use. Donating your under utilized equipment to the OBP will get it back to work. By sharing the equipment with the community we are proving opportunities for people to learn new skills and explore the process of making ideas real.

Help us help you get your garage or basement back.
